Centre for Teaching and Learning
The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) facilitates academic professional development (PD) with emphasis on the quality of the student learning experience and support for those experiences both in and outside the classroom. Our focus is on internal and external PD that leads to improved student learning through improved teaching and learning practices, systems and support.

Event details
- Date: Tuesday, August 27th
- Time: 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Where: in-person on Barrie campus or online
There’s more: We are looking for amazing UDL stories
Do you have a UDL tale to tell? Consider sharing your UDL story in a GÜD Talk at the Focus on Universal Design for Learning (FoÜD for Learning) event.
We are looking for peers to give a GÜD Talk with the following elements:
- Your GÜD Talk should be approximately six to eight minutes long.
- Your GÜD Talk should talk about an issue, problem, or challenge you identified and the approach (UDL) you took to solve it.
- Your GÜD Talk should share the impacts of your (re)design.
- Ideally, your GÜD Talk will offer an applicable take-away (idea, item, link, or anything really) for your participants.
That’s it!
Not sure about the language of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) but suspect you’re doing it? You might visit the CAST website for information (*note, the CAST Guidelines have just been updated – we think this is worth a look!).
Meet with peers, hear from students and access the menu of FoÜD for Learning, to help you prepare for your next teaching semester!

Georgian Faculty Competency Framework
The Innovative Georgian College Faculty Competency Framework is a system meant to help educators consider, engage in conversation about, and celebrate the many roles we assume and hats we wear in our day-to-day professional lives.
We are designers, researchers, inclusive practitioners, changemakers, digital navigators, collaborators, reflectors, and mentors.
We weave associated competencies into our daily practices and grow from emerging to performing to transforming over time. We are thrilled to connect with you about this model.
